New Teeth in a Day
When considering replacing your teeth with dental implants it can be a daunting task to do your research. The terminology can be confusing and the details of the procedure can be opaque. So how DO we replace your teeth with a new set of teeth on dental implants in just one day?
The very first step on your journey to a new you is a full assessment and consultation with Dr. Currie. We will review your concerns, your medical status and discuss if you are a good candidate for the ’New Teeth in a Day’ (also known as All-on-4) procedure. A series of photographs will be taken to facilitate discussion of your esthetic goals. A preliminary panoramic x-ray will be taken to assess your bone structure and anatomy.
If you are a good candidate for ‘same day teeth on implants’, and would like to proceed with designing your new smile, the next step involves digital imaging. The digital scanning allows for digital design of your new smile and digital simulation of your dental implant surgery. Your current smile will be captured using facial scanning technology and your new smile will be perfected with specialised software.
While the ideal position and size of your teeth are designed on specialised ‘bite and smile design’ software, your surgery can be planned on specialised surgical planning software. A CT scan is obtained and loaded into the planning software to allow Dr. Currie to plan the appropriate number and size of dental implants for your surgery.
On the day of your surgery you will arrive in the morning and be given appropriate medications including some sedative medication to make you sleepy. Dr. Currie and his team then put all of the careful planning to work. The bad teeth are removed, dental implants are placed and a new set of teeth is fabricated to be attached to the implants.
After all of the planning and consultation the real reward is seeing the new smiles on the faces of our patients. Our patients decide to proceed with dental implants for many reasons; some have too many decayed teeth, some don’t have enough teeth left.
